At least four people have been killed in an attack by suspected armed herders in Tombu Council Ward, Logo Local Government Area of Benue State.

The incident occurred on Monday, with several settlements reportedly razed and properties destroyed.

A community leader, Joseph Anawah, told reporters that the assailants invaded farmlands and villages around 3 p.m., killing residents and torching deserted communities, including Tse Mku.

“Two people were killed in their farmlands on the outskirts of Ayilamo settlement.

They were Mr. Kaananfam Nyamikume, a resident of Tse Jigam village, and Mr. Mson from Guma LGA. A local medicine seller was also killed, while another victim, Mr. Saaondo Mundu Azaye of Tse Azaye, was found dead,” Anawah said.

He added that youths searching for missing persons on Tuesday discovered two bodies near Tse Uza settlement, while two other farmers remain unaccounted for.

According to him, the attackers are suspected to be hiding in abandoned settlements at Tse Ibor and Tse Ukpukuru in Anyibe, within the Mbawien clan of Tombu Council Ward.

When contacted, the spokesperson for the Benue State Police Command, DSP Udeme Edet, said she needed time to verify the incident but did not respond to follow-up calls as of press time.
