Court remands Pastor for allegedly raping teenage daughter

An Akure Magistrate’s Court on Thursday ordered the remand of a 42-year-old pastor, Samson Ajayi, at the Olokuta Correctional Centre for allegedly raping his 17-year-old biological daughter for more than four years.

Ajayi, a father of five, reportedly confessed to the crime, claiming he was under a “generational curse.” He was arrested last week after his wife reported the matter to the police in Igoba, Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State.

The victim’s mother, who had been unaware of the abuse, discovered the incident after noticing unusual signs at home. The girl later revealed her ordeal, prompting her mother to alert the police. Ajayi was subsequently arrested at a prayer mountain.

The prosecutor, Supol Martins Olowofeso, informed the court that the offence occurred between March 2021 and August 2025 at the defendant’s residence.

He said the charges contravened provisions of the Ondo State Violence Against Persons Prohibition Law, 2021.

Ajayi’s lawyer, Kehinde Osadugba, sought an out-of-court settlement on the grounds that the victim’s mother had forgiven him as the family’s breadwinner.

However, Magistrate Taiwo Lebi rejected the plea, stressing that the defendant’s confession was sufficient to establish probable cause.

Lebi ordered that the case file be duplicated and forwarded to the Director of Public Prosecutions for legal advice. The matter was adjourned to November 20 for further hearing.
