The Ondo State Security Network Agency, known as Amotekun Corps, has announced plans to go after alleged godfathers and sponsors of crime as part of its operations to secure the state.

State Commander of the corps, Adetunji Adeleye, disclosed this on Tuesday while briefing journalists in Akure. He said the agency had moved beyond arresting offenders to dismantling the networks that sustain them.

Adeleye revealed that 28 suspects were recently apprehended for various offences across the state.

He stressed that the corps would continue to evolve its strategies as criminal activities become more sophisticated.

“Amotekun always strives to stay ahead. We are now after the godfathers and backbones of crime. Until they are uprooted, there cannot be lasting peace,” he said.

According to him, the agency’s interventions have contributed significantly to the state’s economy, with Internally Generated Revenue rising by more than 500 per cent in 2023.

He added that Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has directed the corps to maintain an enabling environment for investment.

Adeleye further stated that Amotekun patrols remain active across the state, while its presence in the forests has made farming communities safer.
