Nollywood actress Opeyemi Aiyeola has clarified reports surrounding the bereavement of fellow actor Ibrahim Chatta, stating that the deceased was his godson and not his biological child.
Speculation arose after Chatta shared an emotional post on Instagram over the weekend, which many interpreted as mourning his own son. “Inna liLlahi wa inna ileyhi rajiun. Ya Allah, You are the Knower of all things. Rest on Dear Son. Champ,” he wrote.
Aiyeola, in a statement on her verified Instagram handle on Sunday, explained that the late child was a godson who Chatta considered as his own. “May his pure soul continue to rest peacefully… It’s been an extremely emotional ride so far. God have mercy,” she added.
The actress also prayed for strength and comfort for the bereaved family, urging the public to show compassion during the difficult period.
Chatta has yet to provide further details about the loss.
