Five young men were on Monday arraigned before an Iyaganku Chief Magistrates’ Court, Ibadan, over the alleged theft of goods valued at N11.2 million.
The defendants — Thomas Akaachir, 24; Suleiman Musa, 20; Yunusa Mustafa, 19; Anas Mohammed, 23; and AbdulRahman, 22 — are facing three counts bordering on conspiracy, breaking and entering, and stealing. They pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Police prosecutor, Insp. F. H. Adesina, told the court that the accused persons conspired and broke into the premises of Jifas Company at the NASFAT area, Toll–gate, Ibadan, on August 24 around 7 a.m., carting away extruder spare parts and electric motors worth N11.2 million.
The offences, he said, contravened Sections 383, 390(9), 413 and 516 of the Criminal Code Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
Magistrate I.O. Osho granted each of the defendants bail in the sum of N3 million with two sureties in like sum, stressing that the sureties must show evidence of the amount in their bank statements.
The case was adjourned until December 11 for hearing.
