Celebrity chef and Guinness World Record holder, Hilda Baci, has assured Nigerians of the hygiene of the massive pot she will use in her latest record-breaking attempt to cook the world’s largest jollof rice at Eko Hotel and Suites, Lagos.
In a video shared on Instagram on Friday, Baci was seen inside the six-metre-wide custom pot, scrubbing its interior with detergent. She joked about the unusual sight, saying, “I know you’re probably about to pop your eyeballs out.
Why is she inside the pot? The reason is because I need to wash it.”
The chef added that the pot would be rinsed multiple times and cleaned again with new mopsticks before cooking begins. “I can officially confirm this pot is squeaky clean. I rolled up my sleeves and washed it myself.
I promise to serve the most amazing, hygienic food you’ve ever eaten,” she wrote.
The event, organised in partnership with seasoning brand Gino, is expected to attract more than 20,000 people.
It marks another bold culinary milestone for Baci, who gained global attention in May 2023 after completing a 100-hour cooking marathon that secured her a Guinness World Record.
