Cole urges Wike to quit PDP, declare for APC

Former All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Rivers State, Tonye Cole, has asked Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, to end speculations about his political loyalty by formally joining the ruling party.

Cole, who spoke on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Friday, said Wike’s continued association with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) while serving in an APC-led government was confusing to Nigerians and harmful to democracy.

“Is he APC or is he PDP? As far as we know today, he is PDP,” Cole said. “We cannot continue confusing the electorate in Rivers State and confusing Nigerians.

It is dangerous for democracy that you are in one party and controlling another.”

He urged the former Rivers governor to “act honourably” by declaring for the APC, arguing that such a step would unify political blocs in the state and strengthen democratic competition.

“Leave the PDP, come and join the APC so that we all know now that we are standing in one bloc — no division, no confusion,” he said. “Allow PDP to be, allow Labour Party to be, allow other parties to thrive. That’s what democracy is about.”
