The Lagos State Police Command has arrested six men for allegedly abducting their business partner in the Lekki area of Lagos State.
The victim, popularly known as Senator, was reportedly kidnapped on Tuesday and held captive for three days before being rescued by detectives.
A police source confirmed that the breakthrough came after the victim’s family lodged a missing person’s report when he failed to return home.
His phone was later traced to an apartment in Lekki, where officers stormed the premises and rescued him.
“The victim’s family reported that he went out on Tuesday and never came back. Detectives tracked his phone to an apartment in Lekki, where he was found,” the source said.
Another officer familiar with the case revealed that the suspects maltreated the victim during his captivity, seizing his phone and withdrawing money from his bank account.
Preliminary investigations suggested that a failed business transaction between the suspects and the victim led to the abduction.
“During interrogation, we discovered that they had done business together, and because the outcome did not favour the suspects, they decided to abduct him in frustration as a means of recovering their money,” the officer said.
Although the exact nature of the business deal was not disclosed, police said investigations are ongoing, and the suspects will be charged in court after interrogation.
A video sighted by reporters showed the six suspects handcuffed after being rounded up by detectives.
When contacted, Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Adebisi, said she had yet to receive a formal briefing on the case but promised to make further inquiries.
The incident highlights a growing trend of abductions linked not only to ransom demands but also to business disputes.
In August, police in Lagos arrested a 32-year-old painter, Chigozie Clement, for abducting his customer’s seven-year-old son in Ketu Alapere and demanding ₦7 million for his release.
