The Ondo State Government has launched a large-scale poultry training programme aimed at empowering over 75,000 youths and boosting food production across the state.
The initiative, tagged “Adiye Irorun,” was inaugurated on Friday at Isuada in Owo Local Government Area under the supervision of the Ondo State Agribusiness Empowerment Centre (OSAEC).
Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Youth Empowerment and Job Creation, Mr. Orioye Gbayisemore, said the training was designed to equip young people with practical knowledge in poultry farming and promote economic independence.
“Adiye Irorun will make our youths employed in Ondo State. A lot of resources have been committed to this programme, and it will enable participants to learn and earn sustainably,” he said.
The Director of Livestock at OSAEC, Mr. James Akinbuwa, described the project as a bold step toward creating a new generation of agripreneurs.
He said participants would be supported to establish their own poultry ventures with access to technical guidance and market linkages.
“Broiler production is a sustainable business that can transform livelihoods. In the next few years, this initiative will drastically reduce youth unemployment in Ondo State,” Akinbuwa stated.
The Director of Veterinary Services in the Ministry of Agriculture, Dr. Adebayo Ehinmowo, said the government would provide empowerment packages and facilitate access to credit for large-scale operations.
Some beneficiaries, including Mr. Pamilerin Opabisi and Miss Excel Emmanuel, expressed appreciation to Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa for the opportunity and pledged to make good use of it.
