The Ondo State Police Command has arrested a 53-year-old man, Kareem Fatia, for allegedly manufacturing and possessing locally made firearms in Ile-Oluji.
The suspect was apprehended on October 15, 2025, by detectives attached to the Yaba Divisional Headquarters, following credible intelligence, according to the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka Olushola.
During the raid on the suspect’s residence in the Eyingun-Owode area of Ile-Oluji, police operatives recovered three single-barrel guns, three Dane guns, and one unfinished gun barrel reportedly hidden in a nearby bush.
DSP Olayinka disclosed that two other individuals were also arrested in connection with the case.
He added that investigations were ongoing to uncover the network of buyers and determine the suspects’ involvement in violent crimes across the state.
The police said the principal suspect and the seized exhibits would be transferred to the Command’s Monitoring Unit for further investigation and prosecution.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Abayomi Lawal, reaffirmed the command’s commitment to ridding the state of illegal arms and warned individuals involved in the fabrication or possession of firearms to desist or face the full weight of the law.
