The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has suspended its National Vice Chairman for the South-South, Dr. Usani Usani, over alleged anti-party activities and insubordination.
The decision, which takes immediate effect, was reached after a meeting of the State Working Committee (SWC) of the party’s Cross River State chapter held on October 15, 2025.
In a statement issued on Monday in Abuja, the State Publicity Secretary, James Otudor, said the committee found Dr. Usani’s actions to be contrary to the ADC constitution and inconsistent with the party’s principles.
“The SWC examined several petitions alleging anti-party activities, insubordination to constituted authority, and conduct detrimental to the image and electoral prospects of the ADC,” Otudor stated.
He explained that the suspension would remain in force pending the outcome of a formal investigation by the party’s disciplinary organs.
The committee also faulted the appointment of Ms. Jackie Wayas as Deputy National Publicity Secretary, claiming the state leadership was not consulted before her selection.
Otudor alleged that Wayas had shown “little engagement” with the Cross River chapter since assuming office and called for her replacement with a competent and media-savvy member from the state.
The Cross River ADC further expressed concern over the activities of some individuals within the Coalition Movement who, despite publicly identifying with the party, had yet to complete their membership registration.
The committee warned that dual membership and political double-dealing would no longer be tolerated, directing all coalition leaders and intending members to regularize their registration at ward levels within seven days, ending October 25, 2025.
Reaffirming its loyalty to the ADC national leadership, the Cross River chapter pledged to uphold the party’s ideals of credible leadership and people-centered governance in the South-South region.
It also urged members to remain calm and law-abiding as internal disciplinary mechanisms run their full course.
