The Borno State Police Command has arrested a 20-year-old woman, Halima Ali Maina, for allegedly stabbing a five-month pregnant woman during an attack in Maiduguri, the state capital.

The incident occurred around 1:30 p.m. on Monday, October 20, in the Njentilo area of Maiduguri, according to security analyst Zagazola Makama, who disclosed the development in a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday.

Makama said the suspect, who hails from the Polo area of Maiduguri, allegedly entered the victim’s residence without permission before attacking her with a knife.

The victim, identified as Aisha Musa, sustained multiple stab wounds to her stomach, chest, back, and face.

She was rushed to the Umaru Shehu Ultra-Modern Hospital, where she is currently receiving treatment and is said to be responding to care.

Police operatives later apprehended the suspect and recovered the weapon used in the assault.

Sources within the command confirmed that the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation on charges of culpable homicide and grievous harm.
