The Kano State Police Command has arrested two suspected members of a bandit syndicate and stepped up security operations across the state, particularly in Makoda Local Government Area.

The Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, disclosed this in a statement issued on Saturday by the command’s spokesperson, SP Abdullahi Kiyawa.

According to the statement, the suspects were apprehended around 2 a.m. on Friday during a coordinated operation by the command’s Anti-Kidnapping Squad and Shanono Division, following credible intelligence from residents of the Farin Ruwa community in Shanono Local Government Area.

Bakori said preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects were allegedly working with bandits attempting to infiltrate Kano State.

He added that efforts were ongoing to identify and arrest other members of the criminal network.

“The vigilance and cooperation of the Farin Ruwa community played a crucial role in the success of the operation,” the police commissioner stated, urging residents to remain alert and report suspicious movements to security agencies.

In a related development, the commissioner said the command had commenced mediation efforts to resolve lingering clashes between herders and farmers in Barebari Ward, Makoda Local Government Area.

He explained that the Area Commander of Dambatta, ACP Mohammed Gwarzo, chaired an initial peace meeting, followed by a session presided over by the Commissioner of Police at the command headquarters to ensure lasting peace in the area.

“The command remains committed to maintaining peace, protecting lives and property, and ensuring that Kano State remains safe for all,” Bakori said.

He reaffirmed the readiness of the command to sustain its onslaught against criminal elements across the state while seeking continued public cooperation and intelligence sharing.
