The Kebbi State Police Command has dismissed a viral social media report alleging that a retired Assistant Controller of Customs built a private airport in the Argungu forest to smuggle cocaine and other illicit drugs into Nigeria.

In a statement on Wednesday, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, CSP Nafi’u Abubakar, described the allegation as “false, baseless, and a calculated attempt to tarnish the image of the state and its security agencies.”

Abubakar said the report was a deliberate act of misinformation intended to create panic, embolden criminal elements, and undermine the security operations currently being conducted across the state.

“The Kebbi State Police Command categorically refutes this mischievous narrative.

It is a total fabrication designed to mislead the public and discredit the sustained efforts of our officers in combating crime,” the statement read.

He urged residents to disregard the rumour and remain law-abiding, warning that spreading false information could endanger public peace and safety.

The command reaffirmed its commitment to working with credible media organisations to counter fake news and maintain stability in Kebbi State.
