Police uncover grisly murder trail after missing Lagos okada rider found dead in Ogun

The Lagos State Police Command has begun a full investigation into the brutal killing of a commercial motorcyclist, Afesomu Amos, whose dismembered body was discovered in Ade-Odo, Ogun State — a week after he was reported missing.

Amos, a popular rider in the Ajara-Vetho area of Badagry, went missing on October 24 after he reportedly dropped off a passenger at Erekiti.

According to his brother, Samuel Afesomu, the deceased had called his wife around 7:30 p.m. that evening to inform her he was on his way home, but his phone went off minutes later. All attempts to reach him failed.

Police investigations led to the recovery of Amos’s motorcycle, and three suspects were arrested while allegedly trying to sell it. One of them reportedly confessed, implicating another suspect.

In a follow-up operation by detectives from Ikeja and Badagry divisions, the main suspect was traced to Makoko, Lagos, and arrested.

He later led the team to Ikogale-Obakobe, Ado-Odo, where the victim’s mutilated remains were found.

Samuel said the family was informed of the breakthrough by the police.

“On Thursday, we were told another suspect had been picked up. The next day, the police called to say my brother’s body had been found,” he recounted.

Amos’s widow, now left with six children, pleaded for help to sustain her family.
“I don’t know how to care for our children alone. I am pleading for help to continue my business and support them,” she said in tears.

The Lagos Police Command confirmed that investigations were ongoing to track other suspects and uncover the motive behind the murder.
