Operatives of the Edo State Police Command have arrested two suspects and recovered firearms during a coordinated bush-combing operation in parts of the state.

The suspects — 30-year-old Julius Omagbogwu and 45-year-old Omika Musa — were apprehended for unlawful possession of firearms, according to a statement on Monday by the Deputy Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Eno Ikoedem.

Ikoedem said the operation was part of the command’s sustained efforts to rid the state of criminal elements and mop up illegal weapons.

She said, “On October 31, 2025, at about 8:00 a.m., operatives of the Ehor Division, led by CSP Akwaha Steven, in collaboration with local vigilante personnel, embarked on an intensive bush-combing exercise within Egbisi, Equaholor, and Uhi communities.”

The operation, she added, led to the recovery of three single-barrel shotguns and the arrest of the suspects.

“Preliminary investigations are ongoing to trace the source of the firearms and identify possible criminal networks associated with the suspects,” she said.

Commissioner of Police, Monday Agbonika, commended the Divisional Police Officer of Ehor Division and his team, as well as the vigilante groups, for their vigilance and intelligence-driven efforts that led to the arrests and recovery.

He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to maintaining peace and public safety across Edo State, urging residents to remain law-abiding and provide credible information to assist security agencies in tackling crime.
