Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have arrested a suspected key drug courier believed to supply narcotics to Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province fighters across several frontline communities in the North-East.

The suspect, identified as 45-year-old Zubairu Muhammad, was picked up around 6:30 a.m. on Tuesday by soldiers of the 232 Battalion in Uba, Adamawa State.

Security sources quoted by counterinsurgency expert, Zagazola Makama, said Muhammad had allegedly been a major conduit for cannabis sativa and crystal meth, commonly known as ICE, to terrorist cells operating along the Askira-Uba, Chibok, Michika, and Damboa axes.

During the operation, troops reportedly recovered 14 blocks of cannabis valued at over N1m and 43 grams of crystal methworth more than N3m.

Also found in his possession were two military camouflage T-shirts, which he allegedly wore to disguise himself during drug delivery runs to the insurgents.

Military authorities have concluded preliminary investigations and are expected to hand over the suspect and the seized exhibits to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, Yola Command, for further action.
