The Lagos State Police Command has intensified operations against criminal networks, leading to the recovery of nine high-end vehicles and several weapons in coordinated raids across the state.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, made the disclosure while briefing journalists at the Command Headquarters in Ikeja, noting that the recoveries were part of a wider strategy to boost security during the ember months.

According to the police chief, most of the vehicles were reportedly stolen by drivers or car wash attendants who were trusted with them, but prompt police action ensured they were intercepted at various locations before they could be spirited out of Lagos.

The recovered vehicles include a white Toyota Hilux, a white Range Rover SUV, a black Toyota Land Cruiser, a silver Lexus GX 460, a silver Honda CR-V, a grey Toyota Corolla, another Toyota Corolla with registration number JJ AS 87 JJ, a Toyota Highlander, and a Boxer Bajaj motorcycle.

Also seized were several weapons and other items: four locally made pistols, a single-barrel shotgun, live cartridges, a machete, a fabricated firearm, an assault dagger, a battle axe, charms, and $4,000 in counterfeit foreign currency.

“These recoveries reflect the impact of the proactive strategies we have rolled out across Lagos. Since September, the state has recorded no major security incident. We remain fully on top of the security situation,” Jimoh said.

He credited the improved security climate to enhanced community policing, increased convoy patrols, show-of-force deployments, and strengthened collaboration between residents and law enforcement.
