Tunji-Ojo pays surprise visits to NSCDC, Fire Service commands in Abuja

The Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on Tuesday carried out unscheduled inspections at the Federal Capital Territory Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps and the Federal Fire Service station in Wuse Zone 3, Abuja.

The minister said the visits were part of efforts to assess, firsthand, the state of facilities and the readiness of personnel to respond to emergencies, noting that incidents often occur without prior warning.

Tunji-Ojo referenced President Bola Tinubu’s national broadcast on Monday, stressing that the President had made it clear that securing the country requires collective effort and uncompromising vigilance across all security formations.

According to him, “Security is life, and Mr President is trusting our officers to deliver on the issue of internal security and the protection of critical national assets.”

The minister expressed confidence that the NSCDC, Federal Fire Service, and other agencies under the ministry would meet expectations, adding that the goal is to build a country citizens can be proud to call home.

He also said he would sustain unannounced visits to paramilitary commands nationwide to obtain an undiluted view of operational realities.

“More importantly, I will continue to conduct unscheduled on-the-spot assessment of paramilitary commands across the country, as I want to see things the way they are,” he said.

Tunji-Ojo added that Nigerians deserved the highest standards of public service, saying, “For me, I want to see the sort of service that Nigerians are getting across all our agencies because like what I always say, a good service is not good enough for Nigerians, but the best, always.”
