Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar on Saturday paid a visit to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan at his Abuja residence in what political observers describe as part of ongoing strategic consultations ahead of the 2027 general election.
Atiku, who recently returned from a political tour, confirmed the meeting in a post on his verified Facebook page, writing: “It was a pleasure catching up with former President Goodluck Jonathan yesterday evening, following his recent return from Guinea-Bissau.”
The visit comes days after the former Vice President formally joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC), following his resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He had accused the PDP of straying from the ideals of its founding fathers.
Party insiders have hinted that Atiku is being positioned as a leading contender for the ADC presidential ticket as preparations for the 2027 polls gather momentum.
