First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has expressed deep concern over the recent wave of mass abductions across the country, describing the development as disturbing and unacceptable.
Mrs Tinubu spoke on Thursday during a Christmas engagement with children at the State House Conference Centre, Abuja, where she reassured Nigerians that government officials were working tirelessly to tackle the nation’s security challenges, particularly those affecting vulnerable groups.
She acknowledged the ongoing rescue efforts and noted that the administration responded promptly to the incidents.
However, she stressed that addressing security issues in a vast and complex nation like Nigeria required patience, coordination and collective resolve.
She said several children who attended the event expressed interest in joining the military, adding that their enthusiasm reflected a growing desire among young Nigerians to contribute to national security.
Mrs Tinubu also used the occasion an annual Christmas programme that brings together children from less-privileged backgrounds to encourage families to embrace cultural values and promote acts of kindness during the festive season.
According to her, Christmas offers an opportunity to celebrate storytelling, identity and traditions rooted in African heritage, while reinforcing community support through giving.
She urged Nigerians to extend help to others in the coming year, insisting that generosity remains central to building strong and compassionate communities.
