The Kwara State Police Command has arrested three suspected armed bandits and recovered 54 rounds of AK-47 ammunition during an operation in the state.
The State Commissioner of Police, Adekimi Ojo, disclosed this to journalists on the sidelines of a police security summit organised by the command in Ilorin on Wednesday.
He said the suspects were apprehended by police operatives at the Banni axis of Baruten Local Government Area.
Adekimi assured residents that several other suspects had also been arrested and were currently undergoing profiling, as part of sustained efforts to curb criminal activities in the state.
He stressed that security is a collective responsibility, noting that security agencies cannot work in isolation and must partner with communities to effectively address security challenges.
“We are using the security summit to achieve the aim of solutions to the security challenges confronting the state, hence, the need to harness ideas from stakeholders towards finding solutions to the emergent security challenges by relating with communities and stakeholders across the state.
The commissioner admitted that there are challenges, such as manpower, vehicular and logistics, but, “even if we have a million police personnel, it cannot solve the problem, hence, we just have to collaborate with the communities to achieve the desired results.”
