The Adamawa State Police Command has commenced an investigation into an online report alleging that a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member was kidnapped and killed while travelling to his village in Lamurde Local Government Area of the state.

In a statement, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, said the Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, ordered an immediate response after the report surfaced online.

He said the police boss directed the deployment of rescue operatives and crime scene experts to Lamurde for an on-the-spot assessment and discreet investigation to ascertain the facts surrounding the incident.

Nguroje explained that the corps member was said to have completed his service year in Katsina State and was reportedly on his way back to Adamawa when the incident occurred.

According to him, the command is working to verify the claims and will take appropriate legal action based on the outcome of the investigation.

The police urged members of the public to remain calm and refrain from spreading unverified information, while appealing to anyone with useful details to come forward to aid the investigation.

“The Command remains committed to professionalism, accountability, and the protection of citizens’ rights,” the statement said.
