Former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has dismissed claims that he is set to formally join the African Democratic Congress (ADC), insisting that such a move is unnecessary because he has been part of the platform from the outset.
Obi explained that his involvement with the ADC predates recent speculations, noting that he has been a member of the coalition driving the party since its formation.
He made the clarification on Sunday night during an interactive session on X Space.
The former Anambra State governor also used the opportunity to address concerns about leadership and ambition within the coalition, stressing that no individual was being edged out or asked to make way for him.
He further reaffirmed his regard for former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, describing him as a respected leader within the fold, while emphasising that the coalition’s strength lies in collective effort rather than personal ambition.
Obi maintained that the agreement among stakeholders remains focused on collaboration ahead of the 2027 general election, adding that unity and mutual respect would guide the group’s political engagements going forward.
