Families of seven construction workers abducted along the Sabaja–Owa Onire Road in Kwara State have appealed to the state government and security agencies for urgent intervention.
The victims were seized while working on the road and relatives say the abductors have slashed a ransom demand to N500 million for their release. Relations of the victims held a press conference in Ilorin, the state capital, to press home the plea for swift action.
Speaking on behalf of the families, relatives described the ordeal as traumatising, saying wives, children and elderly parents have been thrown into deep distress since the abduction.
They urged the Kwara State Government and security operatives to intensify efforts to secure the safe return of their loved ones and called for immediate welfare support for the affected households while negotiations and rescue efforts continue.
The families said they are hopeful that a combined government and security response will lead to the prompt release of the workers. Security agencies in the state have yet to issue an official statement on the incident.
