Nigerian Army To Begin Manufacturing of Jet Fighters

 

The Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria (DICON) is set to begin the manufacturing of helicopters and jet fighters in the country any time soon. This statement was made by the Chief of Army Staff, General Tukur Yusuf Burutai on Thursday, June 25, 2020 at DICON factories in Kaduna.

General Burutai also asserted that Nigeria was on the path to attaining self sufficiency in military armaments and hardware going by the state of the transformation in infrastructure, equipment and general facilities at the industries of DICON.

While speaking during an inspection of the newly transformed factories and some production lines, the Chief of Army Staff expressed his satisfaction and commended the level of achievement and transformation attained in DICON within one year.
General Burutai also commended the Director General of DICON, Maj Gen Victor Ezugwu for the level of progress of work and the zealousness of DICON Staff in only one year.

The Army Chief stated that the Nigerian Army has made sufficient investment to support DICON for the acceleration of research and development in local production of weaponry and assorted military equipment.

He further averred that the collaborative efforts and result oriented partnership between DICON and Command Engineering Depot in Kaduna had achieved tremendous successes in the repairs and production of vehicles as well as weapons for troops in different theaters of operation in Nigeria.

General Burutai described the ingenuity of DICON as the one that
had not only boosted the morale and fighting spirit of troops; but added that it had also saved the country a huge resources that could have been expended on the importation of arms, ammunition and other military hardware and equipment.

Meanwhile, the COAS has taken advantage of the event to appreciate President Muhammadu Buhari for the tremendous support he so far given to the Nigerian Army. He also assured the president of total loyalty, firm resolve and emphatic determination of Nigerian Army to combat the current spate of security challenges being witnessed across the Nigeria in the shortest possible time.
