Bystanders stole Anthony Joshua’s phone after auto crash

Confusion reportedly trailed the road accident involving British heavyweight boxer, Anthony Joshua, with his family alleging that some bystanders took advantage of the chaos to steal his mobile phone.

Joshua’s uncle, Adedamola Joshua, who spoke on the incident, said the theft occurred amid the disorder that followed the crash, describing the act as disturbing and inhumane.

He lamented that rather than offering assistance to those involved in the accident, some people at the scene focused on filming and carting away personal items.

According to him, the disappearance of the phone was only noticed after efforts had been made to stabilise victims and manage the situation.

The family also expressed concern over the growing habit of crowding accident scenes, noting that such actions often worsen emergencies and delay proper rescue operations.

Adedamola said the behaviour reflected a deeper societal problem, calling for increased public enlightenment and stricter control at accident sites.

The crash reportedly occurred along the Lagos Ibadan Expressway and was said to have claimed lives, though Joshua survived with minor injuries.

While the boxer has yet to speak publicly on the matter, his family urged authorities to strengthen emergency response and crowd control to prevent similar incidents.
