The Ondo State Police Command has arrested four additional suspects in connection with a motorcycle theft syndicate earlier uncovered by its operatives, leading to the recovery of another stolen TVS motorcycle.

The arrests followed up on a police operation carried out on December 22, 2025, during which two motorcycles were intercepted and some members of the syndicate apprehended.

Police sources said sustained intelligence-driven investigations led operatives to Edo State, where the fleeing suspects were tracked and arrested.

Those arrested were identified as Onyeka, Ekene, Sunday and Abubakar.

The police said the suspects, all males, confessed to their respective roles in the theft operation during interrogation.

The recovered TVS motorcycle is believed to be part of the items stolen by the syndicate, while investigations are ongoing to identify other accomplices and recover additional stolen property.

The suspects are expected to be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.

Commending the operatives for their swift and professional response, the Commissioner of Police in Ondo State, CP Adebowale Lawal, praised the officers for demonstrating the command’s growing capacity for proactive crime fighting and effective intervention.

The police boss reassured residents of the command’s unwavering commitment to the protection of lives and property, warning criminals that the command would relentlessly pursue offenders regardless of where they operate. He directed all Divisional Police Officers and tactical commanders to remain vigilant and ensure adequate security coverage across the state.

CP Lawal also acknowledged the strategic leadership and support of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, noting that ongoing reforms and technological initiatives have continued to strengthen policing effectiveness in the state.

The command urged members of the public to remain security-conscious and to promptly report suspicious activities to law enforcement agencies, stressing that community cooperation remains critical to achieving a safer society.
