The Bauchi State Government has announced the compulsory retirement of 653 workers from the state civil service in 2025, with an additional 61 employees exiting voluntarily.
This was contained in a statement issued on Wednesday by the Information Officer of the State Civil Service Commission, Saleh Umar.
Umar disclosed that the commission handled more than 3,000 personnel-related cases over the year, spanning promotions, conversions, cadre upgrades, transfers, dismissals, and both voluntary and compulsory exits.
He stated, “These cases were reviewed through 28 scheduled activities, during which the commission held 91 sittings.”
The commission also confirmed the promotion of 1,178 officers across various grade levels, while 493 workers were redeployed into other cadres within the service.
According to the statement, three civil servants were dismissed during the period under review, while one officer’s appointment was terminated for professional misconduct.
Umar added that more than 3,500 pending files, including overdue promotions and routine administrative matters were resolved, easing the pressure on ministries, departments, and agencies.
He noted that the development now allows the commission to begin its 2026 personnel processes “on a clean slate.”
