BREAKING: Tinubu meets Makinde, Mutfwang separately at Aso Rock

President Bola Tinubu on Thursday held separate meetings with the Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, and his Plateau State counterpart, Caleb Mutfwang, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Makinde and Mutfwang arrived at the State House at different times, with Mutfwang getting to the villa at about 3pm, while Makinde arrived around 3:30pm.

The closed-door meetings are coming amid renewed political consultations and shifting alliances ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Makinde, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party, is among the few opposition governors yet to defect to the ruling All Progressives Congress despite the recent wave of defections.

The Oyo governor has also been linked with a possible presidential ambition, with political watchers saying he may be positioning himself for the PDP’s presidential ticket ahead of the next election.

Mutfwang, who recently defected to the APC, met Tinubu for the first time since his switch to the ruling party.

In recent months, Tinubu has continued to engage governors across party lines as part of ongoing consultations at the presidency.
