A fire outbreak on Monday swept through Singa Market along Bello Road in Kano, triggering panic among traders and residents in the area.
The inferno, which reportedly broke out in the early hours of the day, spread rapidly to sections of the market, consuming shops and destroying goods worth millions of naira.
Eyewitnesses said frantic efforts were made to contain the blaze as flames threatened to extend to adjoining stalls, prompting calls for swift emergency intervention.
