59-year-old Chinese national arrested over alleged rape in Ogun

The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a 59-year-old Chinese national over the alleged rape of a woman at a quarry site in the Kobape area of the state.

It was learnt on Wednesday that the incident reportedly occurred on January 25, 2026, at a quarry facility located within the community.

A senior security officer, who spoke on condition of anonymity as he was not authorised to speak to the media, disclosed that the suspect was arrested after the victim lodged a formal complaint with the authorities.

“The suspect, a 59-year-old Chinese national, was apprehended following an allegation of sexual assault at a quarry site in Kobape,” the source said.

According to him, the suspect was immediately taken into custody and the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department at Eleweran for a thorough investigation.

The development has again raised public concerns over criminal allegations involving some foreign nationals operating in different parts of the country.

Recall that in July 2025, it was reported that operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency arrested a Chinese national, Liang Tak You, at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, for allegedly attempting to smuggle 50 parcels of a synthetic strain of cannabis, popularly known as “Loud,” into the country after arriving from Bangkok, Thailand.
