Suspected kidnappers have abducted five worshippers during a brazen attack on a church in Uso community, Owo Local Government Area of Ondo State.
Uso community is strategically situated along the Akure Owo highway.
Community sources who spoke anonymously disclosed that the harrowing incident unfolded on Tuesday while a church activity was in progress, when the armed assailants stormed the premises and forcibly carted away five members of the congregation.
However, a ray of hope emerged as one of the abducted victims reportedly managed to escape from the clutches of his captors shortly after the attack.
Further details surrounding the incident including the identity of the affected church, the whereabouts of the remaining victims, and their current condition were yet to be fully ascertained as of the time of filing this report.
Also security operatives had yet to issue an official statement on the development as of press time.
