A Magistrate Court in Ado-Ekiti has directed that a 35-year-old suspect, Ahmed Tijani, be kept in custody at the Ado-Ekiti correctional facility over allegations of burglary and stealing.
The order followed a remand application filed by the police during proceedings before Magistrate O. F. Bamidele.
Presenting the application, the prosecutor, ASP Yomi Osuolale, informed the court that the defendant is under reasonable suspicion of committing the alleged offences against several complainants, including Odin Oluwatosin, Obayemi Feranmi, Dada Emmanuel Ibukunoluwa, Babatope Goodness, Odianoween Blessing and Bayesewa Glory.
He told the court that the offences are punishable under Sections 322(a) and (c) as well as 302(1)(a) of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021.
Osuolale stated that the alleged incident occurred around 3:30 a.m. on February 10, 2026, within the Oye-Ekiti Magisterial District.
The prosecutor added that investigations were still in progress and that the case file had been forwarded to the Director of Public Prosecutions for legal advice, urging the court to remand the suspect pending further action.
Ruling on the application, Magistrate Bamidele granted the request and ordered that the defendant remain in custody pending the DPP’s advice.
The case was subsequently adjourned until March 25, 2026, for mention.
