The Oyo State Police Command has launched a search for a 29-year-old man, Quadri Mohammed, who is suspected of killing his 26-year-old girlfriend, Precious Mogaji, in Ibadan.
The command’s spokesperson, Olayinka Ayanlade, disclosed in a statement that investigations have begun to determine the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death.
According to the police, the incident was reported around 12:05 a.m. by a resident who found the victim lying motionless at the entrance of her boyfriend’s apartment.
Officers from the Ojoo Division, including the patrol team and the incident duty officer, were immediately dispatched to the scene.
On arrival, the victim’s body was discovered at the doorway of the suspect’s room.
“The Oyo State Police Command has commenced an investigation into the alleged killing of a 26-year-old woman identified as Precious Mogaji,” Ayanlade stated.
He clarified that the incident occurred in the Oguntula area of Ojoo in Ibadan, correcting earlier reports suggesting it happened in Akobo.
Ayanlade noted that claims linking the case to a husband attempting to transport his wife’s body were false.
Police officers documented the scene, conducted a preliminary examination, and took photographs for evidence.
The body was subsequently moved to a hospital morgue for an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
Investigations revealed that the suspect, Quadri Mohammed, had fled and his current whereabouts remain unknown.
The police said efforts are ongoing to apprehend him, urging anyone with information to contact the nearest police station or the Oyo State Police Command.
