Professor Charles Soludo has been formally inaugurated for a second term as Governor of Anambra State, with the ceremony taking place at the newly renovated Alex Ekwueme Square in Awka on Tuesday.
Soludo, who assumed office alongside his Deputy, Dr. Onyeka Ibezim, was sworn in before a gathering of national and state dignitaries.
The event drew Vice President Kashim Shettima, former Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan, former Commonwealth Secretary-General Emeka Anyaoku, as well as Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara, among other governors and notable personalities.
The swearing-in followed Soludo’s decisive victory in the November 8, 2025, governorship election, officially certified by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). The governor secured 422,664 votes, significantly outpacing his closest challenger, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate Nicholas Ukachukwu, who received 99,445 votes. The Young Progressives Party (YPP) candidate, Sir Paul Chukwuma, placed third with 37,753 votes.
Details of the inaugural proceedings and the governor’s agenda for the next four years are expected to be released later.
