The Kebbi State Government has constituted a committee to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death of two children at the General Hospital, Zuru.

The decision was disclosed on Thursday in a statement by the Governor’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Yahaya Sarki.

According to the statement, Governor Nasir Idris approved the panel to examine the incident involving the victims, who were reportedly from the same family.

The committee is to be led by the Commissioner for Information, Yakubu Ahmed, with the Commissioners for Health and Establishment, Sama’ila Augie and Manu Dogondaji, serving as members.

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Health, Zaki Abubakar Zaki, will function as the panel’s secretary.

The government tasked the committee with uncovering both the immediate and remote causes of the deaths, following allegations that the children may have been given a wrong injection.

It is also expected to identify those linked to the incident, assign responsibility where necessary, and recommend steps to forestall similar occurrences.

The panel has been directed to begin work immediately and submit its report within one week.
