The Anambra State Police Command has arrested a 35-year-old man, Chukwudalu Ezeani, for allegedly killing his cousin, 52-year-old Chinedu Ezeani, and concealing the body in a shallow grave at his residence in Afube village, Amichi, Nnewi South Local Government Area.

The incident reportedly occurred on August 1, 2025, around 8 p.m., but the crime remained hidden for nearly eight months before police intervention.

The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the arrest in a statement on Wednesday, explaining that the case was initially filed as a missing person report at the Amichi Police Station.

“Operatives of the State Criminal Investigation Department, Awka, revisited the matter following credible intelligence, which led to the arrest of Chukwudalu Ezeani in connection with the murder of his cousin,” Ikenga said.

According to preliminary investigations, Ezeani allegedly killed his cousin at his home and buried the body within the compound, keeping the crime concealed for approximately eight months.

SP Ikenga added that the suspect confessed to the murder during interrogation and guided detectives to the burial site, where the decomposed remains were exhumed.

“The remains have been taken for forensic examination, and the suspect will be arraigned in court upon completion of investigations,” he said.

The police command reiterated its commitment to justice and urged members of the public to report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station promptly.
