A High Court of the Federal Capital Territory has ordered the arrest of a factional National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Kabiru Turaki, over his failure to appear before the court.
The order was issued on Thursday by Justice U.P. Kekemeke after the defendant failed to honour a court summons in a case instituted by the Nigeria Police Force.
The court held that Turaki had no valid excuse for his absence and consequently directed that he be arrested.
The case stems from a one-count charge filed by the Inspector-General of Police, accusing Turaki of supplying false information to the police in a petition submitted in October 2022.
