Outrage in community over discovery of aborted twins in refuse dump

Residents of Special Site in Pankshin Local Government Area of Plateau State have expressed anger following the discovery of aborted twin foetuses abandoned at a refuse dump.

The foetuses, identified as male and female and believed to be about five months old, were reportedly found on Wednesday in a polythene bag behind the residence of a commercial driver, Enman Danladi.

According to eyewitnesses, the discovery was made by a farmer who noticed a dog sniffing a polythene bag at the dumpsite, with flies gathered around it.

Danladi, who spoke on the incident, said the farmer alerted him immediately after making the discovery.

“I had just returned from work when the man came to call me to the refuse dump behind my house,” he said.

“He explained that he had been chasing away a dog that was sniffing a polythene bag. When he opened it, he found the aborted twins and quickly informed me.”

He added that he mobilised neighbours to the scene, after which the remains were buried at the dumpsite.

The incident has since sparked emotional reactions within the community, with residents condemning the act and describing it as disturbing and unacceptable.

A resident, Joshua Lamba, decried the development, stating that such an act was contrary to the values of the community.

“This is inhumane. Our people are not known for this kind of behaviour. No one has the right to take a life under any circumstance,” he said.

Another resident, Philip Jatau, expressed shock over the incident, noting that it had left many residents unsettled.

“It is difficult to comprehend. Even a woman who has been married for years without a child could not hold back her tears,” he said.

Residents have called on security agencies to investigate the incident and ensure those responsible are brought to justice.

Efforts to reach the state Police Command for confirmation as of Thursday were unsuccessful.
