Former Super Eagles forward, Michael Eneramo, has died after collapsing during a football match in Kaduna State.
According to reports on Friday, the 40-year-old ex-international slumped while featuring in a game at the Angwan Yelwa pitch, located in the Television area of Kaduna.
Eyewitness accounts indicated that Eneramo, who came on as a substitute in the second half, suddenly collapsed without any physical contact during play.
He was subsequently rushed to a hospital, where he was confirmed dead.
The late striker, who had retired from professional football, enjoyed a career that spanned clubs across Europe and Africa, including Beşiktaş J.K., Espérance Sportive de Tunis, and Lobi Stars F.C..
Before his death, he was reportedly managing a football academy.
Reacting to the development, the official handle of the Nigeria national football team paid tribute to the former striker, sharing his photograph with a brief message: “Rest in peace Michael.”
