Two persons have been confirmed dead in a road traffic accident along the Kaduna Western Bypass in Kaduna State.

The Federal Road Safety Corps, Kaduna Sector Command, disclosed that the fatal crash occurred around 1:45 p.m. on Sunday at the Federal Eye Centre Junction.

The Sector Commander, Andre Longkam, who confirmed the incident, said the collision involved a DAF truck, a Honda car and a motorcycle.

According to him, preliminary findings revealed that the Honda vehicle rammed into the motorcycle, leading to the death of the rider and a passenger.

“Two persons lost their lives in the crash,” Longkam stated.

He, however, noted that the situation escalated shortly after the accident, as some aggrieved youths reportedly set the affected vehicles on fire, causing further damage.

The FRSC boss said personnel of the corps, in collaboration with the police, swiftly responded to the scene to control traffic and restore order.

He added that measures were immediately put in place to ensure the free flow of vehicles and avert additional incidents.

Longkam expressed concern over the crash and urged motorists to be cautious, particularly on roads undergoing construction.

He also advised drivers to adhere strictly to traffic rules and avoid actions that could aggravate emergency situations.

The sector commander noted that an investigation into the cause of the crash was ongoing, reaffirming the commitment of the FRSC to enhancing road safety across the country.
