Widespread outrage has erupted following the circulation of a viral video showing a woman allegedly assaulting her 15-year-old daughter in the Ipaja area of Lagos State.
The incident, said to have occurred at No. 32 Tashoro Street, near Opeki Bus Stop, was captured in a disturbing footage that surfaced in the early hours of Wednesday.
In the clip, the woman, dressed in a yellow shirt, was seen pinning the teenager to the ground while brandishing a knife after reportedly beating her near the entrance of a residential compound.
Bystanders were observed intervening to stop the attack, though the condition of the victim could not be immediately confirmed as of the time of filing this report.
The video was shared on social media platform X by a user identified as Dir Martins, who alleged that the girl was being abused by her mother and called for urgent intervention by relevant authorities.
The post triggered a wave of reactions online, with many users urging the Nigeria Police Force and the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency to take swift action.
Several others also appealed to the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, to ensure the safety of the teenager and bring the perpetrator to justice.
As of press time, neither the police nor the Lagos State Government had issued an official statement on the incident.
