Fresh allegations have continued to trail Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Nuhu Usman, currently in custody over the fatal shooting of a 28-year-old musician in Effurun, Delta State, as new claims of extortion and abuse of power emerge online.
The Delta State Police Command had earlier confirmed the officer’s arrest in connection with the death of Oghenemine, popularly known as OG Millan, stating that the incident occurred on April 26, 2026, during an operation by operatives of the Area Command, Effurun.
Police authorities said the team acted on intelligence suggesting that a suspect was in possession of a firearm, leading to the arrest of one Mene Ogidi, allegedly found with a Beretta pistol and four rounds of ammunition.
However, circulating video footage has sparked public outrage, appearing to contradict the police account.
In the footage, the victim was seen restrained and pleading with officers, raising further questions about the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
The Command has since acknowledged that ASP Usman violated Force Order 237 and standard operational procedures.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, condemned the incident and confirmed that the officer has been transferred to the Force Headquarters in Abuja for disciplinary proceedings and possible prosecution.
Meanwhile, the controversy has widened, with new allegations surfacing from members of the public who claim to have had prior encounters with the officer, accusing him of harassment, intimidation, and extortion.
One such account, shared on social media platform X by a user identified as @djParis, alleged that she was assaulted and forced to part with N50,000 during an encounter with the officer in 2023.
According to her, the incident occurred during a traffic delay when she boarded a commercial motorcycle, only for the rider to be stopped by ASP Usman and his team.
She alleged that she was ordered off the bike, assaulted with a firearm, and verbally abused before being forced into a police vehicle.
Recounting the incident, she claimed she was later compelled to withdraw N50,000 at a Point-of-Sale terminal after being threatened with detention.
She further alleged that the officer made demeaning remarks and issued threats during the encounter.
The viral testimony has added to growing public concern over alleged misconduct within the police ranks, with calls for a thorough and transparent investigation into both the shooting incident and the fresh extortion allegations.
