The Ondo State Government has clarified that academic activities will hold as normal at Fiwasaye Grammar School on Monday despite the planned visit of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to Akure.
The clarification followed reports suggesting that the school might be shut due to security arrangements linked to the President’s engagement near the school premises.
In a statement released on Sunday, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, Akindele Ige, urged parents and residents to ignore the speculation.
He stated that students and teachers were expected to attend classes as scheduled, adding that no directive had been issued to suspend learning activities.
“The public is hereby informed that students and staff of Fiwasaye Grammar School, Akure, are to report to school as scheduled for normal academic activities tomorrow Monday, May 11, 2026,” the statement read.
The ministry explained that necessary consultations had been held with security agencies to guarantee safety and maintain order within the school environment during the President’s visit.
It further assured parents, guardians and members of the public that adequate measures had been put in place to prevent disruption around the school vicinity.
The government, however, appealed for cooperation from residents and stakeholders, insisting that there was no security threat or reason for panic.
