The Borno State Police Command has arrested an 18-year-old suspect over the alleged killing of a young man following a disagreement in Konduga Local Government Area of the state.
The incident, which reportedly occurred on June 6, was disclosed in a security update shared by security analyst Zagazola Makama.
According to the report, a confrontation between two youths escalated into violence at about 3 p.m. in Konduga, leading to the death of one of them.
The suspect, identified as Adam Ali Bukar of Galtimari Ward, allegedly stabbed 20-year-old Ba’umara, a resident of Duwanti Ward, in the chest during the altercation.
The matter was said to have been reported to the police by the Commander of the Civilian Joint Task Force in the area, prompting an immediate response from officers led by the Divisional Police Officer.
The victim was rushed to the General Hospital, Konduga, for medical attention but was confirmed dead on arrival by a doctor.
His remains were subsequently released to his family for burial in accordance with Islamic rites.
Police operatives arrested the suspect at the scene and recovered a knife believed to have been used in the attack.
The case has since been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Maiduguri for further investigation and possible prosecution.
Authorities have yet to issue an official statement on the incident as investigations continue.
