A young football enthusiast, Salisu Muhammed, has died after collapsing during a training session at a football field in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State.

The tragic incident occurred on Monday morning at the Massalacin Edi football pitch in the Alikazaure community, leaving teammates, friends and residents in shock.

According to eyewitnesses, Muhammed was actively participating in the training exercise when he suddenly fell on the field, bringing the session to an abrupt halt.

A teammate, Abba Abdullahi, said efforts were immediately made to save his life as he was rushed to a hospital for medical attention.

“He was playing football when he suddenly collapsed.

We quickly took him to the hospital, but he was later confirmed dead,” Abdullahi said.

The news of his death sparked grief among family members, friends and fellow players, many of whom described him as a humble, peaceful and respectful individual who maintained cordial relationships with those around him.

Special prayers were offered for the deceased, with sympathisers asking God to forgive his shortcomings and grant him eternal rest.

Muhammed, popularly known among friends as Achilata, was a resident of the Anguwan Rogo area of Jos. He is survived by his parents, wife and four children.

He was laid to rest at the Babale Cemetery in Jos in accordance with Islamic rites.
