A pregnant woman, her children and a sibling who were abducted in Igboho community, Oyo State, have regained their freedom following a two-hour ultimatum issued by Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho.
The victims were reportedly released on Saturday, hours after Igboho publicly demanded their freedom and warned against the rising wave of kidnapping and insecurity in the South-West.
Speaking during a meeting with community stakeholders, Igboho accused some members of the Fulani community of being linked to cases of abduction in the area.
He specifically referenced the kidnapping of the pregnant woman and condemned the killing of an individual who reportedly delivered ransom to the abductors.
Expressing outrage over the incident, the activist warned that criminal activities threatening the safety of residents would no longer be tolerated.
Shortly after the expiration of the ultimatum, videos circulated on social media showing residents celebrating the return of the abducted victims.
Although authorities have yet to provide official details regarding the circumstances surrounding their release, sources within the community indicated that the kidnappers freed the victims following the warning issued by Igboho.
The development has sparked reactions among residents, many of whom expressed relief over the safe return of the victims amid growing concerns about insecurity in parts of Oyo State.
Efforts to obtain further information on the incident were still ongoing as of the time of filing this report.
