Suspected bandits have abducted the wife and son of the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress in Yauri Local Government Area of Kebbi State, Yusuf Alhasan, during a late-night attack on his residence.
The victims were reportedly seized when armed men stormed Alhasan’s home in the Low-Cost area of Yauri around midnight on Monday and whisked them away to an unknown destination.
Details of the incident emerged through security sources, who disclosed that the attackers carried out the operation under the cover of darkness before escaping with the two victims.
As of the time of filing this report, neither the police nor other security agencies had issued an official statement on the abduction.
The Kebbi State Government had also yet to comment on the development.
The latest incident has further heightened concerns over the persistent security challenges facing parts of Kebbi State, where residents continue to grapple with recurring cases of kidnapping and armed attacks.
Efforts to ascertain the whereabouts of the abducted woman and her son were unsuccessful, while security operatives were yet to provide updates on rescue efforts.
The abduction adds to a growing list of insecurity-related incidents recorded in the state in recent months, prompting renewed calls for stronger measures to protect lives and property.
