A Delta State High Court sitting in Isiokolo, Ethiope East Local Government Area, has sentenced a 54-year-old man, Samson Nagboje, to 20 years imprisonment after convicting him of a sexual offence involving his underage stepdaughter.
The judgment was delivered by Justice O. Aforkeya, who found the defendant guilty after the conclusion of the trial.
The prosecution, led by an Assistant Director in the Delta State Ministry of Justice, Miss Phoebian Onomakpome, told the court that the offence occurred on May 14, 2020, at Eloh Compound in Ovu, Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State.
According to the prosecution, the defendant committed the offence against his four-year-old stepdaughter.
The child’s identity was withheld to protect her privacy.
The court heard that the suspect was arrested by the police following the incident and arraigned on June 8, 2020.
After reviewing the evidence presented during the trial, Justice Aforkeya convicted Nagboje and sentenced him to 20 years in prison.
